She was examined, with one of the doctor's colleagues present, and was declared to be in fine health before being sent on her way. Doctors started prescribing it for everything from high blood pressure to arthritis to. Now, that’s over 15, but customers were eager to reap the proclaimed health benefits. RadiThor was especially popular in the 1920’s, when people could buy a 1-ounce bottle for 1. US Radium was ready and willing to investigate, and sent a young doctor named Flynn from Columbia University to have a look at her. Once this water was released to the public, it took off. One of her doctors finally had the bright idea that it might have something to do with the factory she had worked at and suggested that the company investigate. In 1922, a woman named Grace Fryer started to get sick - she began feeling increasingly weak and her teeth started to fall out. So, the company decided to hide what was happening by being as underhanded as possible. You see, they knew that radium had harmful side effects and Marie Curie's work only confirmed it. It took a while for the factory workers to get sick, and when they finally did, no one thought it had anything to do with their work - except for the company they were working for.
